Informational: Additions to Sidebar

On the sidebar you will see three new items that I would like to introduce.

Temple Reservations - Is exactly what it says and contains a link to the Jordan River Temple Reservations page for scheduling temple ordinances.

Riverton FamilySearch Library - Is reopening July 19th and lists the days & hours it is open.

Ward Goals 2021 - These goals approved by the bishopric & ward council, are goals that we would like to use to measure our temple & family history successes as a ward.  

-Average 20 member submissions of names to the temple a month.  

-Average 20 memory submissions a month

-Every active member over the age 8 have a family search login

The first two of these goals are based on metrics collected by the church, so there is no need to keep track of them as we do them.  Just submitting names to the temple, adding memories to Family Search or the memories app each month will help us gauge how we are doing as a ward.

The third goal of having every active member over the age of 8 having a family search login is something that as ministering brother/sisters,  organization leaders, fiends & neighbors that we can help complete this goal.  Idea's could be quorum or class activities focusing on family history, inviting ministering families to have a family search login, and talking to them about what work has been done on their family tree, or through inviting neighbors or ward friends to go to the FamilySearch library to name a few.  If you don't have a current temple recommend with you membership number and never logged into churchofjesuschrist.org, talk to the member of the Bishopric and they can give you your church membership number to be able to sign-in into the church's website and FamilySearch.

                          Welcome to Week #2   These both are fun activities to complete.    A     MEMORIES: PICTURES, DOCUMENTS, AUDIO FILES Adding Memories to the living and the deceased is a fun way to do family history; it compares to journaling or scrap booking.  FamilySearch is uploading and maintaining all of the information and the data storage facility that we can use as a resource.  A few years ago, I had an incredible experience where my daughter would ask for a bedtime story about an Ancestor.   I have some that are just in my head.   But she requested several nights in a row and wanted a different one every  night.   So I had the thought to pull out my phone and just read her some stories off of Family Search;  it was on the ancestor’s memories page where I could find a quick story.
